EDA was awarded the project scope of this 57 story building with a requirement for EDA to install the Foundation Waterproofing in 2006 and later completed the Plaza Waterproofing in 2008. EDA also installed a LEED Certified Roofing System at all roof elevations, traffic coatings at certain deck locations, Custom Precast Pavers, and Custom Sheet Metal.

EDA Contractors, Inc. was honored to have been chosen to install the Roofing, Waterproofing and Sheet Metal portion of this project. Designed by the world-renowned Rafael Vinoly, the Kimmel Center is the anchor for Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts. With the dramatic “Glass Vault”, the Kimmel Center is a sight to behold.
The dramatic designs created over (40) roof elevations. Each area had a different design of tapered insulation and .060 Fully Adhered Membrane. Each area of the tapered insulation had to be lettered for the loading of the material and installation. The loading of the materials was mainly performed at night. Built in Center City Philadelphia, we were required to contact the Philadelphia Police to secure the car lanes for our cranes.
In addition to the Roofing, we performed the Hot Melt Waterproofing, Custom Colored Hanover Pavers (Restaurant Balcony), Bituthene Waterproofing (Foundation Wall), Damproofing (Interior Skin of Entire Building), Metal Oxcide Waterproofing (Elevator Pits), W.R. Grace Procor 30 Waterproofing (Ramp and Louver Areas), and all Custom Color Roofing Sheet Metal.

EDA was chosen to furnish and install 140,000 square foot of 30 year shingles and 130,000 square feet of vinyl siding for this four building assisted living property. In addition, EDA furnished and installed 84,000 square foot of a 20 year EPDM Roofing System.

In 2008, EDA was chosen to install multiple roofing systems at this SAP American Headquarters. EDA was required to install a new modified roofing system, hot melt waterproofing system and PVC membrane on multiple roofs areas to entire project. With EDA’s expertise on all three types of roofing, the owner was provided a sole service guarantee for all of these types of systems. With the installation of a roof garden as an overburden, EDA was trusted to insure that the roofing system remain leak free.

EDA was responsible to install 18,000 square foot of under slab waterproofing, 12,000 square foot of foundation waterproofing, 48,000 square foot of air & vapor barrier, 8,000 square foot of metal thru wall flashings and 47,000 square foot of Carlisle TPO Roofing System. EDA was called to perform work on the entire envelope.
